Best of Design Week, Day 4: A London Clock, Cuddly Bouncer & Flock of Folders

We’re out tagging the best products, designs and installations we encounter at the Toronto Design Offsite Festival (TO DO) and the Interior Design Show (IDS). Here’s our fourth dispatch from the wilds of Toronto

From January 15 to 21, we’re awarding 100 Designlines Loves tags to the most beautiful, most innovative, and flat-out wackiest stuff we encounter. Keep track of everything we tagged in our master list and share your stories with us using the hashtag: #DLLoves18. Happy trails!

Our fourth day on the streets of TO was all about togetherness. We visited the Gladstone Hotel’s signature group exhibition, Come Up to My Room. We left entranced by Concealed Studio’s paper and light installation in one of the hotel’s unrecognizable historic rooms. At the annual OCAD U exhibition, Tables, Chairs & Other Unrelated Objects, we found the spirit of London’s Big Ben captured in a playful coat hanger-clock (trust us: it’s a thing!), destined for Umbra.

Later, we were wowed by a punchy group exhibition at Xpace, which included murals, a pink bedroom and our dream mascot, Erin Rei’s Soft Armour installation. Best of all, this exhibition was around the corner from our office. Thanks, TO DO.

The heritage brand’s latest model reimagines the hearth for contemporary living

For many Canadian homeowners, the fireplace remains the symbolic heart of the home—a place to gather, unwind and anchor family rituals. But in 2025, that doesn’t mean settling for a drafty wood-burning unit or a showpiece that barely produces heat. The best fireplaces today need to combine efficiency with atmosphere, design flexibility with reliability. Few companies balance all of these demands as seamlessly as Valor Fireplaces, a Canadian heritage brand that has been setting the standard since 1977.
