The Laminate Collection

Formica Group’s 2025 collection reflects how designers are rethinking finishes
Surface innovation is at the heart of Formica Group’s 2025 rollout, which introduces eight new woodgrains and six patterns to its laminate collection. Long recognized for pushing decorative realism forward, the brand’s latest offering speaks to how designers are working today: balancing durability, sustainability, and a softer material palette that prioritizes human-centred interiors.

The new woodgrains move away from the uniformity of straight-grain cuts that have dominated the past decade. Instead, the collection highlights more expressive figuring, where natural “cathedrals” in the grain—arching shapes reminiscent of Gothic architecture—create a striking yet familiar rhythm. These details reflect a broader shift toward materials that embrace natural irregularities, adding warmth and tactility to spaces across sectors, from healthcare to hospitality.
Colour plays an equally important role. Biophilic-inspired tones dominate the palette: muted greens, soft browns, and quiet neutrals in beige, greige, and warm grey. These shades are less about chasing trend and more about creating an atmosphere of calm and continuity—interiors that feel restorative, understated, and lasting.
Sustainability is another key layer. Formica Group reports that its high-pressure laminates feature recycled paper content and meet third-party environmental standards. In a recent voluntary test with the USDA’s BioPreferred Program, Formica® Laminate was certified to contain 72% bio-based content. For specifiers, it’s an assurance that surface selection can support both design goals and sustainability targets without compromise.
By expanding the range with wood layouts, textile-inspired visuals, and subtle concretes, Formica Group’s 2025 rollout reflects how designers are rethinking finishes—not as background material, but as integral to the experience of a space.
