KETCH Desk

Meet KETCH, a wall-mounted desk that proves small spaces don’t have to compromise on beauty or utility
From Quebec’s Le Tenon et la Mortaise—celebrated for its slow-design ethos and timeless solid-wood pieces—KETCH distills the studio’s approach into a compact workstation with presence. The design echoes the studio’s CLARA wall bookcase, sharing the same triangular solid-wood brackets that give both pieces their quiet rhythm. Viewed in profile, the desk’s floating silhouette recalls the taut lines of a two-masted ketch—hence the name—balancing tension and grace. That triangular, cantilevered structure isn’t only sculptural; it provides confident stability while keeping the form visually light and the floor beautifully clear.

KETCH is conceived for real life and real work. Mounted to the wall, it creates an airy, clutter-free zone—ideal for city apartments, tucked-away writing nooks, or a refined home-office corner. A discreet cable channel keeps chargers and cords out of sight. Configure the desk to your workflow: add a wide drawer sized to tuck away a laptop and daily tools; include an upper shelf set high enough to accommodate a monitor; or choose an optional pull-out sliding shelf to gain extra surface when sketching, writing, or assembling materials. Use only what you need and keep the silhouette minimal—or lean into storage to build a petite yet capable command centre.
Materiality is central to the piece. KETCH is crafted in solid North American hardwoods—choose from sugar maple, red oak, cherry, or black walnut—each finished with a natural oil that is non-toxic, VOC-free, and dye-free. The result is a desk that feels warm to the touch, wears in gracefully, and reflects the studio’s commitment to local, responsible making.
For interior designers, KETCH offers a versatile architectural gesture that reads refined in both contemporary and traditional contexts. For homeowners, it’s an elegant way to reclaim square footage without sacrificing craft. Paired with the CLARA bookcase or specified on its own, KETCH elevates the everyday: a calm, purposeful workspace shaped by thoughtful design and built to last.
